Inspired by the Lorax!

In phonics class we brought out Dr. Seuss books to get us excited about reading and making noises with these silly letters in the alphabet!  Rhyming is a lot more fun when you’ve made your own Cat in the Hat to read along with.  Just draw red and white stripes on a paper cutout hat and with the use of a plate, that can be the cat’s face!  Add some whiskers, eyes, and a cute nose and your Cat in the Hat will be instantly rhyming and jiving with you.

We need to protect our world!  We made the trees the Lorax speaks for out of felt, hand drawn the tree trunks and collaged paper.

This story reminded me that not only do we have to be gentle and help the environment and all animals in this world, but that we need to listen carefully so that all is heard.  What a beautiful story!

Peacock Scribbles!

Hi Scribblers!

I hope you are having a good day! As I was getting ready this morning, I picked up my new pair of peacock feather earrings.

I found these after I had visited the Dr. Seuss Exhibit in San Diego. After leaving the gallery, there was a market just up the block. These earrings immediately caught my attention! They reminded me of a peacock feather my father had given me when I was a little girl. I loved how colorful it was and the way the feathers fringed out on the ends.

After getting dressed this morning, I sat down to do my scribble. I guess the peacock earrings were on my mind, because this was my finished scribble!

I named it, “Rainbow Eyes!”

Have you been getting scribbley? How have you been doing on your scribbles?

Scribble Man Meets The Cat in the Hat!

Hi Scribblers!

This past weekend, I was at the BlogHer conference in SanDiego, CA. After the conference had ended, I decided to explore San Diego and that’s when I came across the Chuck Jones Gallery.

The Chuck Jones Gallery

The gallery was absolutely wonderful! Chuck Jones is a renowned artist who helped bring to life such characters as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Jones himself created the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote and Pepe le Pew to name a few! If these character names didn’t spark the interest of  your childhood memories, than I am SURE you would warmly remember this… Jones produced, directed and wrote the screenplays for Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Jones and “Dr. Seuss” met and became friends during World War II. Together, they created How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Because the two were friends, the Chuck Jones Gallery came to own a good amount or Dr. Seuss’ artwork. I thoroughly enjoyed the Dr. Seuss exhibit, as did Scribble Man!

Scribble Man and The Cat in the Hat!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Dr. Seuss books. The soft lines and whimsical creative always appealed to me. Looking at the artwork, really inspired my creative and perhaps you will see some Seuss inspired Scribble Jam scribbles posted in the coming weeks!
