Make a Decorative Organizer

Hi Scribblers,

Today I was trying to find a fun way to store my supplies, and instead I got decorative with them!

Make your own decorative organizer!

For this craft, you will need:
-Ribbon
-Construction Paper
-Glitter Glue
-Pipe Cleaners
-Rhinestones
-Scissors
-Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue Sticks
-Tacky Glue
-Foam
-Popsicle Sticks
-Blue Paint
-Soda Can*

To start, trim a piece of Construction Paper to the height of a popsicle stick and around the circumference of a soda can. (Honesty Flag: As you can see in the image, I shot this with a glass cup. I later realized the cup was not quite round. I then ended up using a jar of paint. I suggest using a soda can as you will likely have this around the house. Really, any object with a cylinder shape should work) Glue the construction paper around the circumference of the soda can.

Glue the popsicle sticks to the paper using tacky glue.

If the popsicle sticks don’t meet when you get all the way around, simply glue another stick over the two non-connecting pieces (this can be the back of the organizer).

Paint the sticks with acrylic paint. Let dry

Once dry, gently slide the your organizer shape off of the soda can.

Cut a circle out of foam that is slightly larger than the circumference of your organizer. and hot glue this to the bottom of the organizer.

Decorate your organizer using popsicle sticks, glitter glue, rhinestones, ribbon and what ever else you can think of!

Happy Crafting!

Make a Hand Print Memory Craft

Hi Scribblers!

Do you find it hard to make crafts with your toddlers? How do you inspire creativity in your preschoolers? At those young ages, arts & crafts is a great way to preserve memories of how little they were. Today, we made this palm pet sheep.

The base of this sheep was made from the outline of a hand. This craft can be great to display on your fridge as a magnet or on your desk to remind you of them throughout the day.

To make this craft, you will need:
-White Foam (or Felt)
-Black Foam
-Googley Eyes
-Glitter
-Rubber Cement
-Glue

To start, help your little one trace the outline of their hand and cut out the tracing. Cut off the base of the palm just beneath the thumb.

Draw an outline similar to a cloud for the sheep’s body onto a piece of white foam. The foam piece should be large enough to cover the palm tracing to leave the fingers exposed. Glue the foam body piece to the palm tracing leave just the tips of the fingers exposed.

Decorate the sheep’s body with curly designs using glitter and glue.

Glue the googley eye onto the sheep’s face (the thumb). Add glitter embellishment for the hoofs of the sheep (other four fingers) and the face (thumb) using glitter and glue.

Hang up the little sheep craft for everyone to enjoy!
