Make a Hand Print Memory Craft

Hi Scribblers!

Do you find it hard to make crafts with your toddlers? How do you inspire creativity in your preschoolers? At those young ages, arts & crafts is a great way to preserve memories of how little they were. Today, we made this palm pet sheep.

The base of this sheep was made from the outline of a hand. This craft can be great to display on your fridge as a magnet or on your desk to remind you of them throughout the day.

To make this craft, you will need:
-White Foam (or Felt)
-Black Foam
-Googley Eyes
-Glitter
-Rubber Cement
-Glue

To start, help your little one trace the outline of their hand and cut out the tracing. Cut off the base of the palm just beneath the thumb.

Draw an outline similar to a cloud for the sheep’s body onto a piece of white foam. The foam piece should be large enough to cover the palm tracing to leave the fingers exposed. Glue the foam body piece to the palm tracing leave just the tips of the fingers exposed.

Decorate the sheep’s body with curly designs using glitter and glue.

Glue the googley eye onto the sheep’s face (the thumb). Add glitter embellishment for the hoofs of the sheep (other four fingers) and the face (thumb) using glitter and glue.

Hang up the little sheep craft for everyone to enjoy!

Personalized Winter Gloves!

Hi Scribblers!

This may be one of the warmest winters on record, however we still have had a few chilly days that require warm winter clothes! Do your little ones tend to lose their gloves and mittens? Personalize them to make those mittens easier to find!

This project is a fun way to inspire creativity and bring a smile to your kids’ faces. The finished craft is something they’ll want to hold on to and they’ll have so much fun helping you create the design!

All you need to make this craft is a little creativity, and active imagination and a few odds and ends.

To make this craft, I used:
-Felt
-Buttons
-Ribbon
-Thread
- A Needle
-Pom-poms
-Lanyard
-Puffy Paint

You can really fire your imagination with this craft! We decided to cut up pieces of felt and layer them to make flowers (Can you tell I’m excited for spring?). While coming up with ideas, we added a little embellishment with a pom-pom for the center of the flower….

and used Puffy Paint to add detail to the petals and leaves!

We experimented with different types of flowers but in the end, we choose to add a plain flower and embellish the mitten with a split-stitch sewn stem!

On the other mitten, we made a cute little frog out of felt and added googley eyes for extra fun! These mittens are your own creation- who says they have to match?

Winter mittens tend to all look pretty standard. To make a statement, gather a few creative supplies and have fun Getting Scribbley with your little ones!

Sunflower Smiles

Hi Scribblers,

I hope you’ve been enjoying your fall! Have you been busy making any fall crafts?

Today we made this Sunflower Smile Craft!

Sunflower Smiles

To make, you will need a small paper plate (about 6″), yellow paint, crayons, white paper, leaves, tape and a picture of your loved one(s).

To start, paint a paper plate yellow. Next, draw 1.5″ lines a half inch apart around the the plate and draw triangle points about a half inch down.

Cut the 1.5″ lines and cut out the triangle pieces.

Following the instructions from our leaf rubbings craft, make two large leaves and tape the ends together.

Tape the yellow sunflower plate onto the center where the leaves meet.

Cut a circle around the picture of your loved one (about 3″ across) and tape to the center of the plate. Hang up for display and enjoy!

Make a Fall Family Tree

Today I was looking out the window at the beautiful trees and the leaves changing color and somehow started thinking about making a “family tree.”

Fall Family Tree

This craft is so easy to make, a great way to bond with the family, and is cute to have around the house as fall decor!

To make, simply go out with your little ones and explore nature! Ask your kids to find various sizes and different types of leaves. The freshly fallen, flatter leaves work best! Also find a fallen branch with no leaves on it (or remove the leaves). I used a branch about 2 feet tall that had various sprigs coming off of it.

Once you have gathered your supplies from outdoors, it’s time to make some leaf rubbings! To do this you will need several pieces of white paper, crayons (with the labels removed) and scissors.

Lay the leaves face down on a piece of paper on a table or hard surface.

Cover with another piece of paper. Rub across the paper covering the leaf by holding the crayon sideways.

You can make your leaf rubbings more colorful (giving it more texture) by rubbing over the same leaf twice using two different colors.

Make several different leaves making sure to have at least enough for the members of your family and a few extra for decoration. Cut out the leaves.

Write down the names of the members of your family; one name per leaf.

Tape the leaves onto the branch.

Place in a vase and display for your family and visitors!
