Friday Fangs

Hello, hello and happy weekend everybody! With October in full swing, the Halloween decorations are starting to emerge. The classic Jack-o-Lantern is certainly tried and true, but I’m loving all the fun twists out there on the spooky pumpkin face. Some are funny, cute, silly, scary—but this one is all of those things at once!

How adorable is this vampire pumpkin? Nothing like a big set of chompers on a tiny pumpkin to get a laugh—and it’s super simple to make your own. For directions, check out the step-by-step tutorial from Martha Stewart. They even have a mouth template to cut the perfect size hole for plastic fangs!

Have you tried any clever twists on the classic Jack-o-Lantern? Got some in mind you’re going to try this year? We’d love to see!

Have a frightfully fabulous weekend!

Pumpkin Glamour

Hello Scribblers!

For those who celebrated Yom Kippur yesterday (and I use the term “celebrate” loosely), I hope you all had an easy fast. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming!

One of the decorative all-stars in fall is definitely the pumpkin. Pumpkins can be found adorning many a porch or stoop, carved into Jack-o-Lanterns, and topping off scarecrows. However, we never really think of pumpkins as glamorous.

But with a touch of creativity and thinking outside the box, we can elevate pumpkins to subtly beautify either the exterior or interior of our homes!

All you need are some pumpkins (whatever sizes you like) and some glossy gold spray paint. Another great option is mirror glass spray paint. Just spread out some newspaper outside, place the pumpkins on it, and start spraying! Allow them to dry thoroughly and then show them off wherever you like!

Now you can show off your pumpkin-picking prowess without being an official spokesperson for Halloween. This understated look is equal parts fun and elegant, and will let you display your pumpkins long before and after the spooky day.

We’d love to see your take on this craft. If you give it a try, send us a picture of how it came out and how you showed off your new décor!

Thumbkin Pumpkin- Get Scribbley making Pumpkin decorations!

Hi Scribblers!

Pumpkins are scarce this year due to the strange weather we’ve been having. Just because pumpkins are hard to find, it doesn’t mean you can’t decorate your home!

Check out this cute Thumbkin!

Make a Thumbkin Pumpkin!

To Make:

1. Draw half inch lines across the width of orange construction paper for the pumpkin.

2. Cut out orange strips.

3. Wrap strips around your thumb.

4. Glue the end of strip to the rolled up piece to close the circle.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have used up all the orange strips.

6. Lay out the circles side by side an arrange them into a pumpkin shape.

7. Glue the circles together.

8. Cut three half inch strips of green construction paper about 4 inches long.

9. Curl an end of each green strip around your pinky (or a pen) to make a tighter curl for the leaves.

10. Glue the three green pieces in between two of the orange circles.

11. Cut a half inch strip out of brown construction paper about 2 inces long.

12. Fold the brown strip in half to make the stem.

13. Glue the unfolded end of the brown strip in between the green strips.

14. Once everything has dried, place your Thumbkin Pumpkin somewhere as a decoration or hang in a window!

Cute & Creepy Cupcakes!

Hi Scribblers!

This time of year is the perfect time to get extra colorful with your cake and cupcake decorating!

A Cute & Creepy family of Treats!

To make these fun treats we decorated cupcakes and Oreos!

These treats are easy to make. The icing is dyed with food coloring and the embellishments were made from cut up pieces of licorice, gum drops, Mike & Ikes, and Dots!

What kinds of cute & creepy treats can you make with your little ones? These tasty snacks would be a fun way for your kids to get scribbley and have fun with their imaginations.

Bring them as gifts!

They’re great for bringing to parties too! Yumm!
