Personalized Winter Gloves!

Hi Scribblers!

This may be one of the warmest winters on record, however we still have had a few chilly days that require warm winter clothes! Do your little ones tend to lose their gloves and mittens? Personalize them to make those mittens easier to find!

This project is a fun way to inspire creativity and bring a smile to your kids’ faces. The finished craft is something they’ll want to hold on to and they’ll have so much fun helping you create the design!

All you need to make this craft is a little creativity, and active imagination and a few odds and ends.

To make this craft, I used:
-Felt
-Buttons
-Ribbon
-Thread
- A Needle
-Pom-poms
-Lanyard
-Puffy Paint

You can really fire your imagination with this craft! We decided to cut up pieces of felt and layer them to make flowers (Can you tell I’m excited for spring?). While coming up with ideas, we added a little embellishment with a pom-pom for the center of the flower….

and used Puffy Paint to add detail to the petals and leaves!

We experimented with different types of flowers but in the end, we choose to add a plain flower and embellish the mitten with a split-stitch sewn stem!

On the other mitten, we made a cute little frog out of felt and added googley eyes for extra fun! These mittens are your own creation- who says they have to match?

Winter mittens tend to all look pretty standard. To make a statement, gather a few creative supplies and have fun Getting Scribbley with your little ones!

A Tasty Candy Wreath!

Hi Scribblers!

As we wind down toward the holiday weekend, I wanted to leave you with a fun craft to make with your little ones! Try this Tasty Candy Wreath!

The wreath is easy to make, and fairly inexpensive! Once finished, this is sure to be a favorite in the household as guests and your little ones can grab a tasty treat!

To make this craft, you will need:
- 3 14oz bags of wrapped candy (peppermints, strawberry suckers, butterscotch)
- Wire Wreath
-Ribbon
-Scissors

To start, cut 8″ pieces of ribbon strips. Tie one twisted end of a piece of candy to the center of the ribbon piece. Then, wrap the 2 remaining ends of the ribbon pieces around the wire wreath and tie in place. (Note: do not cut off extra ribbon length)

Continue to work your way around the wreath tying the candy pieces as close or as far apart as you like. Keep in mind, the closer the candy pieces, the more you will need.

When you have completely covered the wire wreath with candy pieces, you can either leave the ribbon strands straight, or do as I did and curl the ribbon pieces using the flat edge of a scissor. To do this simply hold the ribbon taut between your thumb and the edge of the scissor and pull from the base of the ribbon the end. Viola- a perfect ribbon curl!

Next, make a decorative bow using 2″ ribbon. Hang up, and enjoy!

Make a fun Fabric Wreath!

Hi Scribblers!

I was thinking about how to decorate this season when I remembered a fun fabric wreath I made when I was a Girl Scout! I had so much fun making the craft and I was so happy when I brought it home and saw the delight on my mother’s face. Do you like to make your own decorations? Do your kids like crafts? Try this Fabric Wreath and add some color and inspiration to your decorating!

Fabric Wreath!

Fabric Wreath Supplies

This wreath is fun to make and easy too!

To make this craft you will need:
- A Straw Wreath
- Colorful Fabric
- Pinking Shears
-Ribbon for  a bow
-An awl (or thin screw driver or retractable pen)

To start, gather your supplies. Keep in mind, it is best not take off the plastic wrap from the wreath. The plastic will help keep the fabric squares in place.

Cut 3″ x 3″ squares of fabric using the pinking shears. You will need to use a generous amount of fabric – approximately 4-5 fat quarters.

Once you have cut your fabric into squares, use the awl to push the fabric into the wreath. To this, place the fabric print/color side up, place the awl in the center of the fabric and gently push the fabric about a 1/4″ into the wreath.

Continue repeating this step placing the sqaures fairly close together. You can decide base on your own taste how tight or loose you would like the wreath to appear by increasing or decreasing the space between fabric squares. You will only need to cover the front of the wreath, and a little around the edges so as not to show the straw.

Once your wreath is covered in the fabric squares, create a decorative bow and a loop to hang your wreath using your favorite colors of matching ribbon.

Hang up your wreath and enjoy!
